Keith Caldwell, originally from Brundidge, Alabama, and a graduate of Pike County High School in Brundidge, AL, began singing publicly at special community events and at his hometown church, Salem Baptist. Keith graduated from Troy State University in Troy, AL with a double major in Theatre and Music in 1979.
Having sung in church since he was a child, Keith put himself through school partially through being Minister of Music at Hephzibuh Baptist church in Troy, AL. From 1997 through 1999, Keith was leader of the praise and worship team at Christian Life Center in Houston, Texas, where he wrote an Easter musical with Clay Howell. Keith and Clay had already worked together writing secular music and performing together since 1993. In 2002, Keith completed his Masters of Fine Arts in Acting at University of Houston and continued his graduate studies with a voice scholarship working towards his Masters in Music with the Moore School of Music.
In January 2007, Keith and his writing friend, Clay Howell, began working on a album to include most of the songs in the Easter musical they had written together in 1998 and submitted 12 songs including 6 from the musical for consideration to Tommy Smith, Country Gospel recording artist and promoter/producer. Keith and Clay started writing together again in September 2007 and submitted 12 more songs to Tommy Smith for consideration for the album project. Six of the songs on the CD are ones that were written just prior to the album release. Oddly, the Easter songs have been put on hold to create an album for the musical itself, hopefully, to be finished by 2010. Keith released his debut Gospel album entitled, A God of Second Chances in February 2008. His first major release from that album, "Come Hungry To His Banquet Table" moved up to the #1 spot on the CGC chart July 2008 after climbing up the charts since its debut in February 2008 and remained on the charts until October 2008. "A God of Second Chances", his second release hit #5 in September 2008. His third release, "If Christ Was Never Born", a Christmas song, hit #8 in January of 2009, and his fourth release, "The Cross Began To Call" debuted on the charts at #5.
Keith was named Entertainer of the Year for 2010 by the Country Gospel Connection in Branson, Missouri. Keith was selected as Crossover Artist of the Year for 2009 by the Internation Country Gospel Music Association; was named Songwriter of the Year for 2009 with his writing partner, Clayton B Howell, and Entertainer of the Year for 2009 by the CGC Choice Awards out of Branson; Male Horizon Artist for 2009 in the King Country Agape Fest Fan Appreciation Awards; New Male Artist of the Year for 2008 by the CGC out of Branson, MO; and Songwriter of the Year for 2008 with his writing partner, Clayton B Howell.
Keith is currently touring throughout the Alabama, Florida and Georgia area three times a year for about 6 weeks at a time. Keith is also seen all around the country in different gospel conventions and various mini tours of other areas of the country. He is now available for bookings anywhere in the United States.
